We now make it in smaller sizes. What about a 30 gallon whiskey barrel ice chest version? Raised to about 4 inches with a stay-up safety lid, it's easy to get your drink. RECYCLED: The 30 gallon whiskey barrel ice chest gives us the outside of a real whiskey barrel complete with whiskey stains. This ice chest makes us think of the distilleries as this is a full size small whiskey barrel. It stood up at the distillery but lays on it’s side on a barrel stand to serve you. Using retired whiskey barrels adds a special touch for those who are sensitive to ecology and recycling.
UNIQUE: The ice chest is a whole whiskey barrel made with 1" white oak. This is our medium size. The stand is made from oak wood to keep with the oak flavor. We soak the barrel in water to ensure the staves swell and are watertight. Just to be safe, it is not recommended to use indoors unless the inside is sealed to keep it from leaking. We also add a drain hole and stopper to drain the melted ice. The ice chest is rustic by design and includes an attached rustic bottle opener. We use a Danish oil with a medium walnut stain to finish the ice chest. We find that each barrel takes the stain and oil in its own way along with their markings being slightly different, hence no two ice chests will be the same.
HAND CRAFTED: It is hand crafted by us with love and quality in mind here in California, USA. Every product is custom made to order. Please allow us up to 3 weeks after payment to create your ice chest.
OPTIONS: Since the barrel is charred inside, we offer an option to sand the inside and seal the char. This doesn't necessarily make it watertight.
INCLUDED: Each ice chest comes with a bottle opener and stand. It also has a drain and stopper to drain the melted ice.

Please note that although the same care and quality is put into all of our products, there will be natural variation due to the wood selection (either French or American white oak), wood figure, winery or cooperage markings, wine stains from the inside of the barrel, and other factors. No two pieces will be identical and each has its own story to tell!
